Star Wars Birthday Party {New York City}

This party was one of the best examples I've seen of a low-key with some fun elements that took it over the top. This mama wanted to keep the party fun and simple, so she relied on three things for this Star Wars party: location, a fun activity, and cupcakes. I think boy parties are particularly hard to pull off well, but this mom nailed it.

She made all of these amazing  pool noodle light sabers. Incredible!  I've never seen a party that got parents AND kids so involved.  It was truly awesome to watch. And hilarious to see daddies and mommies getting repeatedly whacked by a mob of children.  She made enough cupcakes that the kids could have seconds (awesome!),  and let's not forget Central Park! You don't have to do any decorating at all when you have a fabulous outdoor venue like this.

Cool mom award goes to my friend Lynda.

Portrait of a Brother and Sister {New Jersey}

It's amazing how you can just go a few minutes outside Manhattan and feel like you're nowhere near the city. On this particular morning, work led me to the beautiful home of this family in New Jersey.   My heart skipped a beat when I saw their lovely home, expansive yard, and gorgeous interior.  I'll tell you that I'll never leave the city, but sometimes suburbia beckons with her siren's song.

And have you ever seen more beautiful children? I have not. These little darlings are two of the most well-behaved and cooperative children I've had the pleasure of working with.  It is such an honor when families invite me to capture their world for a little while.

P.S.  The last one is my favorite.

P.P.S.  Have I mentioned how much I love riding trains? I love riding trains.
