C {New York City Maternity Portraits}

How gorgeous is this friend of mine? She was such a natural in front of the camera, and I love that we made the shoot work, despite the weather.  I love photography because it really keeps me on my toes, and I never really know what to expect when I head out the door for a session.  We shot in the rain (and the five short minutes when it wasn't raining) and then found the grotto of a beautiful church. I love the result.

I usually hate maternity portraits (too cheesy and contrived) but these are so natural. I love how they seem to convey her personality as a person and not just her impending motherhood, if that makes sense. The time right before you have a baby is about the baby (which most maternity shoots seem to reflect) but it's also about those final moments as an individual before your whole life changes.

Phew, long comment. I love them.
